Category: "Inspire" Stories, Integrity Serves

Date: November 12, 2021

On the “Inspire” Podcast, we had the pleasure of hearing the inspiring story of Bill McCloskey and the legacy his daughter left behind. Bill was blessed with five children, although one is no longer with us.

Macie Grace McCloskey was born with a rare genetic condition called trisomy 13. Most infants diagnosed with this do not live very long.

Unfortunately, this was the case for Macie Grace. Doctors told Bill and his wife, Wendy, prior to delivery that their time with their daughter would not be long. The news was heartbreaking, but the McCloskey family relied on their faith to get through that time with a positive outlook.

During that difficult time, the McCloskey family found solace in the support of their community. On the podcast, Bill shared while Macie Grace’s life was short, her legacy lives on. Her life inspired Bill and Wendy to serve their community and give back by establishing the Macie Grace Foundation.

They’ve given out scholarships and funded grief counselors for parents, all in Macie Grace’s honor. The McCloskeys also partnered with their hometown to open a splash pad at a local park. The splash pad is designed for children to run around and play in the water. It’s fittingly called Macie’s Place and is expected to open in the spring of 2022.

We are fortunate to have partners with incredible character at Integrity. We love seeing examples of their strength, courage and ability to turn tragedy into something beautiful. The entire episode of the podcast is now available if you want to learn more about Bill, Stateline and this incredible story.
